Materials needed
- Evaporator coil cleaner spray
- Mini-split wash bag (bib)
- Microfiber towels
Step-by-step
- 1
Turn the unit off at the disconnect or breaker before opening it.
- 2
Lift the front cover, slide out the mesh filters, and vacuum then rinse them clean.
- 3
Clip the wash bag under the indoor head to catch runoff.
- 4
Lightly brush dust from the aluminum coil fins, working with the fins, not across them.
- 5
Mist the coil cleaner on per the label and let it flush into the bag.
- 6
Dry the filters fully, reinstall, remove the bag, and run the unit on fan to dry the coil.
Common mistakes
- • Spraying water into the electronics or control board
- • Bending the delicate coil fins
- • Reinstalling filters while still damp
Maintenance & next steps
Rinse filters monthly in cooling season and flush the coil at least once a year.
For deep mold in the blower wheel, refrigerant issues, or any electrical fault.
