Tools needed
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Rag
Materials needed
- Dimmable LED under-cabinet light strips
- Adhesive wire management clips
- Smart plug timer
Step-by-step
- 1
Wipe the underside of the wall cabinets clean so the adhesive grabs.
- 2
Measure each run and cut the LED strips only at their marked cut points.
- 3
Peel and stick the strips along the inner front lip of the cabinets so the light aims at the backsplash.
- 4
Route the connecting wires toward an outlet and hide them with adhesive clips.
- 5
Plug the controller into a smart plug timer and set an on/off schedule.
- 6
Power up and set the dimness level you like.
Common mistakes
- • Cutting the strip anywhere but the marked points
- • Sticking strips to greasy cabinet bottoms
- • Running strips past the power supply's rated length
Maintenance & next steps
Wipe the strips occasionally; re-stick any lifting sections with fresh mounting tape.
For in-wall wiring or hardwired fixtures on a switch loop.
