Tools needed
- Drill/driver
- Stud finder
- Level
- Socket set
Materials needed
- Retractable garden hose reel
- Masonry lag shields (for brick)
- Lag screws (included)
Step-by-step
- 1
Pick a spot near the spigot within the reel's lead-hose reach.
- 2
Locate studs, or plan masonry anchors for brick/block walls.
- 3
Hold the mounting bracket level and mark the holes.
- 4
Drill and set lag shields in masonry, or drive lags into studs.
- 5
Bolt the bracket, then hang the reel box and confirm it pivots freely.
- 6
Connect the lead hose to the spigot and test extend, lock, and auto-retract.
Common mistakes
- • Mounting into drywall alone — the reel will rip out
- • Hanging it out of the lead hose's reach of the spigot
- • Letting the hose snap back hard on retract
Maintenance & next steps
Drain and bring the reel indoors (or insulate the spigot) before a hard freeze.
For mounting on failing siding/masonry or where no solid framing exists.
